excellence.

Garagem Aurora was founded by Manuel António Alves in 1946 and had a workshop in Rua Corte Real, Foz do Douro, Porto. Since early on, it has been in the national automotive scene.

In 1951, a 13-year-old "boy" named Eduardo Santos entered the garage doors, working as an apprentice mechanic.

In 1959, Eduardo became in charge of the workshop and, 4 years later, at the age of 25, he became the owner, alongside other partners, starting to work on his own in the workshop, number 40/48, Rua Corte Real.

It was on the 16th of July 1981 that a tragedy occurred that marks Garagem Aurora' past, a fateful fire completely destroyed the workshop and, unfortunately, took the life of Rui, nephew of "Mestre" (affectionately called) Eduardo.

After the fire, in order to recover and try to raise a workshop worth thousands, the installations of the Fire Station in Rua de Diu, in Foz, were given to "Mestre" Eduardo in an estimated period of 1 year to rebuild the workshop from ruins, where they would remain for 27 years working on everyday and competition cars.

By March 2008, Garagem Aurora moved to Rua Manuel Pinto de Azevedo 359, in the Porto's Industrial area, where it remains until today by the hands of Eduardo Santos, or "Eddie" as he is known - son of the "Master" - still spending his hours around the engines.

Here is a bit of our history as we invite you to come to the workshop and learn even more!
